M62 closed in both directions at J18/19 while police dealt with a distressed woman on bridge

The M62 was closed in both directions between J18 and J19 (Heywood/Middleton) while police dealt with a distressed woman on a bridge (2.00pm Sunday 12 March).
Road users are advised to follow the following symbol led diversions.
Eastbound (hollow triangle) exit the M62 at J18 and take the third exit onto the M60. Follow M60 clockwise and exit at J19. Take first exit onto the A576 and follow this road to the junction with the A6045. Continue to the junction with the A6046/ M62 J19 roundabout and re-join the M62 eastbound.
Westbound (hollow square) exit the M62 at J19 and follow the eastbound diversion in reverse direction.
Road users are advised to allow extra time to complete their journey plans if travelling in this direction.
The Rochdale Hornets versus Oldham Roughyeds kick off has been delayed due to the incident as it is understood some players and officials are stuck in traffic.

3.00pm
The motorway has been re-opened in both directions.
Officers confirmed the woman is safe and receiving medical attention.
