Rochdale Association of Private Hire Drivers helping feed the homeless

Date published: 07 March 2017

The Rochdale Association of Private Hire Drivers (RAPHD) organised an event to feed the homeless of Rochdale at St Andrews Church, Rochdale on Sunday.

Tayab Nabi said: “With austerity cuts and the housing crisis, more and more people are ending up on the streets destitute.

“We, as RAPHD, want to do everything we can to help the most vulnerable people in this town, regardless of faith or background.

“In the cold winter months when we have the luxury of a home and hot food, it's easy to forget about others that are in dire need around us.

“So, it is in that spirit we took part in this big food drive.”

“This is our first event of the year and we have more activities and projects planned over the next 12 months.

“The taxi drivers would like to give something back to the local community and we felt this event was appropriate to kick start our projects.”

The food leftover was distributed to local homeless shelters in Rochdale.
