Middleton In Bloom off to a great start with Great British Spring Clean

Date published: 06 March 2017

Middleton In Bloom kicked off the first Saturday of the month action day - part of the Great British Spring Clean - on Saturday (4 March).

Liz McInnes, MP for Heywood and Middleton, was joined by Andy Burnham MP, GReater Manchester Mayoral candidate, and local councillors to help out and to meet with the In Bloom young people and volunteers.

The clean-up, which concentrated on the area around Springvale Youth Centre up to Tonge Hall, was also attended by youth workers, parents and teachers.

Jill Amos, Youth Worker Organiser of the spring clean, said: “The day was brilliant; we had lots of support and a great turn out. With all the support from everyone and we managed to fill up to twenty bags of litter.

“As well as helping in the big clean, Andy Burnham was on hand to help to keep everyone refreshed by making lots of cups of teas.

"It has been a great start to the In Bloom project, which Middleton is entering the competition for the first time this year.”

If anyone would like to be involved in the Middleton In Bloom project, meetings are held on the first Monday of every month at Springvale Youth Centre, Oldham Road, Middleton, at 1pm-2.30pm and again at 6.30pm-9pm.
