The trip to National Art Gallery and the London Portrait Gallery for Year 9/10 GCSE Art pupils was a valuable insight to the works of great artist.

The journey out was smooth and the excitement was clear to see, as this was the first time for some of our pupils to visit these two remarkable galleries.

Both galleries offered so much but due to time constraints we managed to view only some of the main collections.

At the National Art Gallery pupils discovered the amazing highlight paintings, which are the finest collections of Western European paintings in the world and at the National Portrait Gallery, pupils viewed the Primary collection. Some of these paintings where memorizing, like Van Gogh’s Sun flowers, whilst the Duchess of York (Kate Middleton) painting was a debatable issue for some of our pupils.

Our food stop was the opportunity for our pupils to talk about all their favourite and not so much loved paintings.

Finally our last stop was at Covent Garden, where pupils got to see lots of different craft stalls and food stops. The journey back was a well-earned time to rest our feet and have a little sleep. Over all, an excellent trip, with outstanding behaviour, from all the pupils.

In the under 10 Rochdale swimming gala held at Middleton the team of Zak Gorton Rigg, Sami Hassan, Alexander Zebedee Howard, Elliot Galliene, Wendy Zang, Inaaya Ahmed and Lauren El Hage finished in second place
