Milnrow Band in National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain

Milnrow Band will be competing in the North West Regional Championships at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool on Sunday 26 February.

They will be competing in the Championship Section against 11 other top bands from the region, including Fairey, Fodens and Leyland.

The test piece for the section is ‘Pageantry’ by Herbert Howells.

Milnrow have already had success in January with this test piece, coming second at the Brass at the Guild in Preston

Kenneth Watts, band president, said: “Another good result in this contest will ensure the band keeps its Championship Section status.

“The bands placed first and second will qualify for an invitation to take part in the final at the Royal Albert Hall, London, in October.

“There will be a record total of 81 bands competing in five sections on the day at Blackpool.”
