Geoff Butterworth selected to exhibit at Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours Open Exhibition 2017

Date published: 14 February 2017

Geoff Butterworth’s ‘Running on Time’ has been selected for the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours Open Exhibition 2017 at the Mall Gallery, London from the 6 - 22 April.

The Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI) has been showing the best in contemporary watercolour painting since 1831. A number of prizes are awarded to artists in the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours Open Exhibition.

Geoff said: “I was not expecting to get in as the standard is so high.

“I have had work in the Mall Gallery several times before and once I was runner up In the Laing Landscape and Seascape exhibition with a £1000.00 prize.

“This Exhibition is a royal show with Prince Charles showing his watercolours and it is a showcase for the best in contemporary water media so it should be very positive. My painting is fairly big so it won’t be missed.

“The subject is striking too, I was sure it would be a good picture when I was starting it.

“I painted it quick which is a good thing as you are on a high almost and each day I was raring to go, I finished it on the third day.

“You can view my other paintings at the The Bank Gallery at Castleton. Come along for a guided tour or just a chat. There are three floors and over a hundred paintings on show at 847-849 Manchester Road, OL11 2UY."
