Changes to the way Greater Manchester Police can be contacted

Date published: 13 February 2017

The public enquiry counter at Middleton Police Station will be closed to the public from 27 February, unless you have a pre-arranged appointment.

Opening hours at Rochdale Police Station will change from the current 8am-11pm Monday-Sunday, to the new hours of 8am-8pm Monday-Friday and 10am-6pm Saturday-Sunday.

GMP says a review of its counters has been running since 2015 and the changes are being made to ensure services are being used in the most effective way, with resources being redirected to more popular methods of contact, like getting in touch online or over the phone.

Get in touch with GMP in the following ways now, or after the changes have taken effect in February:

  • Using the yellow phone outside a police station
  • Call 101 or 999 in an emergency
  • Call your local policing team
  • Visit another police station
  • Speak to a police officer or police community support officer while they’re on patrol
  • Email your local neighbourhood policing team
  • Via social media
