A man had a knife held to his throat during a robbery in Rochdale.

Shortly before 7.50pm on Monday 30 January 2017 two men entered a house on Clovelly Street.

The 56-year-old victim was in the living room at the time and one of the robbers held a knife to his throat and demanded money.

Nothing was handed over so the men grabbed a handbag containing a purse as well as two Samsung Galaxy phones (one black and one white) and a Samsung tablet.

They then ran off in the direction of Elizabeth Street.

The men are both described as white, in their 20s and had local accents.

The man who was carrying the knife was described as being of slim build, about 5ft 10ins-tall, and was wearing all black clothing with a dark balaclava.

The second man was described as 5ft 11ins-tall, of medium build, and was wearing all black clothing and a dark balaclava.

Detective Constable Ruth Thompson, from GMP’s Rochdale borough, said: “This was a terrifying robbery and I am just thankful no one was injured.

“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen these men in the area and I would urge you to contact police if you saw anything.

“If you also saw a suspicious looking vehicle in the area, please contact us.”

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 quoting incident number 2087 of 30 January. Information can also be passed on anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
