Howzat for a good night as Cricket and Bachelors star

Date published: 08 February 2017

A packed Heywood Civic centre was bowled over as top comedian Jimmy Cricket and 60s chart toppers the Bachelors rolled back the years.

The popular acts were brought together by chairman of Heywood Township, Councillor Peter Rush to perform a fundraiser for the Mayor of Rochdale’s Charity.

Irish band The Bachelors performed timeless hits such as l Believe, Diane, and Charmaine from their extensive back catalogue.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Jimmy Cricket had the audience in tears of laughter with his legendary wit.

The evening was sponsored by Mr and Mrs Cooney from Rochdale company Cooney Civil Engineering and £1,500 was raised for Springhill Hospice, Rochdale Children’s Moorlands Home and the Lee Rigby Foundation.

Councillor Rush said: “It was an entertainment extravaganza that, to paraphrase Jimmy’s famous catchphrase, left the crowd wanting more. Both acts were superb and a big thanks to the Cooney’s for their kind and generous sponsorship. A good night was had by all.”
