Rochdale Multiple Sclerosis Group awarded £500 from Asda token scheme

Date published: 07 February 2017

Rochdale Multiple Sclerosis Group, which meets at Spotland Social Club, was awarded a cheque for £500 on Thursday (2 February) by Asda Rochdale, thanks to its token scheme.

The cheque was collected by Anne Malley, Elaine Dungworth and Pam Ryan.

Anne Malley, who supports volunteers at the group, said: “This money will help our group provide social activities and support for our members and thanks to Ellenor McDonald, Community Life Champion at Asda Rochdale, we have been given the opportunity to raise awareness of our group.”

The Asda token scheme works by choosing three charities to support. Local charities have to put their groups forward. Each shopper is given a green token at the till and chooses which of the three charities receive that token by dropping it into the appropriate slot.

At the end of three months, the charity with the most tokens is awarded £500 by Asda.

The Rochdale MS Group meets on the second Monday of each month between 7-9pm at Spotland Social Club.
