Report published for Beechwood Lodge Care Home

Date published: 07 February 2017

Healthwatch Rochdale has published an ‘Enter and View’ report, which captures and reflects the views of service users at Beechwood Lodge Care Home in Rochdale.

‘Enter and View’ is the opportunity for authorised Healthwatch Rochdale representatives to go into health and social care premises to collect the views of patients, relatives and staff at the point of service delivery and observe the nature and quality of services.

The report highlights and number of recommendations Healthwatch Rochdale issued to Beechwood Lodge Care Home which include:

  • Review the patient and visitors questionnaire to enable Beechwood Lodge care home to review any positive or negative information.
  • Produce an up-to-date training matrix/log to enable effective tracking of training dates for staff members.
  • Review activities within the home to ensure activities are catered for resident’s needs and abilities.
  • Enforce stricter parking measures within the car park to enable those with a blue badge to park in the disabled bays.
  • To continue to provide good and effective care whilst maintaining a great relationship that Beechwood Lodge care home staff have with the residents.

Healthwatch Rochdale CEO, Kate Jones, comments: “Enter and View provides the opportunity to listen to the experiences of people using those services and the findings of the report can be used to identify areas where the service is performing well and understand where services can be improved.”

Beechwood Lodge Care Home Manager, Jillian Grimbley issued Healthwatch Rochdale the following statement: “Thank you all for visiting and we will take the recommendations on board. Your visit was welcomed and all the staff and residents found you all very nice and caring. It’s nice that there is a service like yours who listens and speaks for the residents best interests.”
