Applications welcomed for community projects

Date published: 26 January 2017

The Crook Hill Community Benefit Fund was launched in November 2015 and the first grants were awarded in April 2016.

Thirteen highly deserving local projects shared a windfall of £35,000.

The largest award went to Whitworth Valley Football Club which was awarded £10,000 to improve the infrastructure at the Rawstron Street football ground.

Other projects in Whitworth sharing the windfall included Whitworth Vale and Healey Band, Whitworth 41st Scout Group and Whitworth Community Choir.

Funding was also awarded to the 25th anniversary Rushbearing Festival and the annual Food and Drink Festival both of which took place in Littleborough during last summer.

Wardle Village also had a number of successful projects with the Scout troop, Football Club and Recreation Ground all being selected to receive grant support.

Hare Hill House Community Hub was also awarded over £4,000 to assist in repairing the roof and the Incredible Edible Farm in Todmorden secured £3,500.

The Crook Hill Community Benefit Fund has £35,000 available each year.

Monies are provided by Hastings who own the Crook Hill wind farm. The Fund is being managed by national grant-making charity, GrantScape.

The fund accepts applications for grants between £250 and £10,000 and there is a single application round each year.

Applications are welcomed for community projects which will benefit residents of the local area. To be eligible you must be a local group with a written constitution, governing document or a set of rules and have a bank account with two signatories.

Individuals and commercial organisations cannot apply. The fund can provide both capital and revenue grants.
