St Andrew’s, Dearnley

Date published: 03 January 2017

We have a huge social event coming up on Saturday, 21 January when, for the first time ever, we will stage a Burns Night, complete with haggis, a Scottish piper, other music and a three-course meal to be prepared by Lord's the Caterers of Whitworth. As with all Burns Nights, the highlight will be the piping in of the haggis, a first for St Andrew's, with its obvious Scottish connections.

A pay bar will be available and we are looking forward to a great night, for which tickets priced at £20 are already going well.

Admission is strictly by ticket only and these can be obtained by ringing Ada on (01706) 536143 or on (mobile) 07854703426. Doors will open at 6.30pm for a 7pm start.

This Sunday, 8 January, we are back to our usual 9.30am Sung Eucharist. All are welcome and the parish rota is as follows: lay assistants, J Mills, H Walker; readers, H Holland, A Fitton; Intercessions, C Longhurst; sidespersons, V Lucy, P Webster; refreshments, Ada, June, Thelma.

The start of a new year is an appropriate time to remind all parishioners of our regular service times and our weekly and monthly activities.

Each Thursday we have a Eucharist (said) at 9.30am and every Sunday we have a Sung Eucharist, our main service of the week, also at 9.30am.

Weekly: Tuesday (1.30pm to 3.30pm) Friendship Club; 5.45pm to 6.30pm, Rainbows; 6.30pm to 8.30pm, Guides; Wednesday, 6pm to 8pm, Brownies; 7.15pm, Choir practice.

Monthly: First Monday, Mothers Union; First Saturday, Littleborough International Women's Association; Last Friday, Parish Lunch, booking required, ring Elizabeth on 376660.
