Afia Suleman and Khurram Shezad greet new born baby on New Year's Day

Date published: 03 January 2017

New Year's Day was made even more auspicious when delighted parents Afia Suleman and Khurram Shezad greeted their new born baby.

Proud parents Afia, 35, and Khurram, 38, from Castleton, decided that Hassan would be the name for their second child.

Mum Afia had a long delivery - she had initially arrived on 28 December and had to wait a few days until a bed was free.

She was diagnosed with gestational diabetes but had a normal delivery, and baby Hassan was born at 4.06am, weighing at 7lb 11 1/2oz.

She said: "It feels so good. I'm very happy. I think dad is even happier. My other son is upset because I've been away for five days. He's quite attached to me."
