  • New Year’s Eve Saturday 31 December 

New Year’s Eve Fireworks, 5.30pm & midnight, The Esplanade
Free children’s funfair rides from 2pm to 5.30pm, a firework display suitable for children.
From 10pm the night time entertainment kicks off again on stage, with the second dazzling firework display as Rochdale town hall clock chimes midnight for the start of 2017.

New Year's Eve Party Night, 8.30pm until 11.30pm for entertainment. Bar closes 12.30am, The Balderstone Club

Protest walk - north Middleton area, 10.30am, Junction of Rochdale Road (A664) and Thornham Lane
There is a walk organised for Monday 2 January in the north Manchester area, protesting at the proposed building of several thousand houses on greenbelt land.

Walkers are setting off from various points in the Middleton/Castleton/Shaw/Royton area, to congregate on the top of Tandle Hill at noon. http://www.rochdaleonline.co.uk/events/45909/events-in-rochdale/protest-walk-north-middleton-area
