The Members of the Goole First World War Research Group are seeking to make contact with the relatives of the late Charles Atkinson.

Atkinson died in 1940, having make to Rochdale in 1936, but originated from Goole, East Yorkshire.

Charles married Alice and had six children, Elsie, Emily, Hilda, Charles, Frank and Harold and grandchildren including Mavis, Charles, Harold, David and Bernard.

The group actively research the histories of World War One servicemen and women and wish to discuss Charles’ military service.

The Group can be contacted via:

Stephen Walker, Secretary of Goole First World War Research Group, said: "The group have found a Long Service medal belonging to Charles Atkinson and as per the group’s project aims would like to re-unite the medal with its family.

"We have researched extensively to try and find Charles’ relatives in Goole but with no luck.

"We have however found that Charles died in Rochdale and moved there in c.1936 and it would make sense if he moved to live with a family member.

"Charles’s grandchildren were born in the later 1930s and early 1940s so there is a chance that he will still have living relatives in the area."
