Kelly Coppock attacked in her home

Date published: 29 December 2016

Kelly Coppock was attacked in her home in Heywood after thugs kicked her door in shortly after 4am on Boxing Day demanding ‘where is the weed?’

The 42-year-old mother and her daughter, Marley, were asleep upstairs at the time of the incident. Kelly woke upon hearing the door being broken down and went to investigate.

One of the thugs punched Kelly in the face as he demanded to know ‘where the weed is’. They continued to attack Kelly after she told them she didn’t know what they were talking about.

Marley says she then woke up because of the shouting and saw one man attacking her mum. Two more offenders were upstairs and ran downstairs after she appeared. Marley called the police as the offenders ran out of the house.

She said: “Neighbours from down the street said they saw them leave in a silver car, which could be a BMW and someone else has said they saw a silver Skoda with around five people in.

“They drove away towards Middleton Road which leads onto a main road with a petrol station.

“Mum went to A&E afterwards to make sure nothing was fractured. Luckily, it wasn’t but her face is very cut and swollen.”

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “We received a call at 4.15am on Boxing Day to reports than three men had forced their way into the property on Canal Street, threatened a woman and punched her in the face.

“The attackers are described as 6ft, two of slim build and one medium and all wearing dark clothing. They fled the scene empty handed.

“Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 357 of 26/12/16 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.”
