Jo Partington set to launch slimming group in Bamford

Date published: 24 December 2016

Jo Partington, a local mum who has lost over four stone and has reached her target weight, is now set to launch her own new Slimming World group in Bamford.

Jo has battled with her weight all her adult life and has tried many different diets but hadn't managed to reach her ideal weight and maintain the loss. She said: “I decided to try Slimming World because I had heard colleagues at work talking about how good it was that they could eat to their hearts' content and were still losing weight. With a new baby and a three-year-old I found that my excess weight was holding me back from being as active as I would have liked. I decided to join my local group and take control of my weight once and for all.”

Jo lost her first stone within three weeks, finding that the support, help and encouragement she received from the 'image therapy' element of the group was a key part of her success.

She explained: “I found the support from my consultant and other members in the group invaluable and I am confident that I wouldn't be where I am today if I had tried to 'go it alone'. I was determined to get to my target weight and I told myself to accept all the support that was being offered and make some me-time.”

Jo went on to lose four stone five pounds over the following 12 months and for the first time in her life she reached her target weight and is now maintaining this weight.

She now wants to help others to lose weight, knowing first hand the effect that excess weight can have on many aspects of life. Jo said: “My self confidence has increased enormously now I've lost weight and I feel the best I have ever done, I enjoy clothes shopping now and find myself saying 'yes' to social events that I would have previously shied away from because I didn't feel good about myself.

"My family and friends are so supportive and it feels good that my children are benefiting from a happier, healthier me. I have eaten myself slim.”

Jo launches her new Slimming World group on 5 January 2017 at Bamford Chapel.
