Date published: 21 December 2016

Sally McIvor has been appointed a new joint director of integrated commissioning by Rochdale Borough Council and NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Ms McIvor, who is due to start in the early part of 2017, will play a key role in bringing health and social care together.

She has lived in the borough all her life and joins Rochdale after five years working as an executive director at Blackburn and Darwen Council.

She said: “I'm really excited about coming back to work in my home town. It’s a great place to live and work with good places to eat and the countryside and city life are right on your doorstep. I am looking forward to helping transform health and social care, making it sustainable for the future.”

Ms McIvor originally trained as a nurse, specialising in supporting people with learning disabilities. She gained a degree in health studies and a post graduate certificate in management while working full time and has worked in health and social care for her whole career.

Steve Rumbelow, chief executive at Rochdale Borough Council, said: "The panel was very impressed with Sally and I am pleased to welcome her to Rochdale. This is an important new role to help drive forward the integration of health and social care in the borough and across Greater Manchester.”

Simon Wootton, chief officer of NHS Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Sally is a local resident, a nurse by background and passionate about improving care and services for our population. She has been working across a large county council working with many care partners, councils and CCGs and will be ably placed to call on this experience to support our integrated working here in the Rochdale borough.”
