New home for the Lighthouse Project

Date published: 19 December 2016

Inspire Middleton has found a new home in Middleton town centre for the Lighthouse Project, Middleton central foodbank and Middleton DIAL.

The new space is on the second floor of Middleton Shopping Centre between the YMCA and Iceland.

Carl Roach, Development Manager, said: “This is just the news we have been waiting to receive for the last 12 months and it is a great relief to be able to come back to the town centre and find somewhere we can start to put down fresh roots and build up our services again.

"The shopping centre management team have been very supportive during this process and have worked with us to bring this deal to fruition. We are looking forward to an ongoing relationship that will bring benefit to both organisations.

"There is much work to be done in the unit to change it from a retail space into the type of space that suits the work that we do through all of our different projects, but once this is completed we know that we will have a great facility in a great location so we can once again be helping meet the needs of local people.

"The Lighthouse Project is currently closed and is not due to open until early January 2017 and there are temporary arrangements in place for the foodbank.

"We look forward to seeing all our regulars again in the New Year and to the prospect of introducing new ideas and services as we get settled in. In the meantime we wish everyone a very happy Christmas."
