St Andrew's sign greetings cards to prisoners of conscience

Date published: 19 December 2016

The Rt Revd Mark Davies, Bishop of Middleton, was at St Andrew's, Dearnley on Sunday 18 December where, with members of the congregation, he signed greetings cards to prisoners of conscience as part of Amnesty International's 'Write for Rights' campaign, whose motto is 'Together our words make a difference'.

Jo Hill, who regularly worships at St Andrew's and is an active member of the church, had a supply of cards available for everyone, including Bishop Mark, to write a message ready for despatch.

Every December, Amnesty supporters all over the world write millions of letters on behalf of those whose basic human rights are under attack; and directly linked with the global campaign to end such abuse, people are urged to send Christmas cards to victims with messages of comfort and support.
