Cyclists raise over £1,000 for Springhill Hospice

Andrew Duxbury, his father-in-law Dave and friend Tim Liptrot have raised £1025.75 for Springhhill Hospice in memory of Donald Luckett,

The keen cyclists, wearing cycling shirts designed by Andrew, completed the 60 mile Manchester to Blackpool ride as well as the Manchester 100K, the Leeds 50K and other local organised rides to reach their fundraising target.

Andrew, from Wardle, said: “Springhill Hospice is a place that is close to my heart as Donald passed away there after a short battle with cancer.

“I was very close to Don, and to lose him has left a huge gap in mine and my family’s life.

“Although it was heart-breaking to go and see him at the hospice in his final weeks, the care he was given was second to none. Donald was always complimentary of the hospice and I wanted to raise as much money as I could in his memory and for the great team at Springhill.”

Said Springhill Hospice Chief Executive, Julie Halliwell: “The money that has been so wonderfully raised will help us to continue the care we provide here every day for our patients.

“To hear that we have been of help and support is heart-warming and, on behalf of everyone at Springhill, I want to thank Andrew, family and friends for their very generous support.”
