Tram passenger injured after car jumps red light

A tram passenger was taken to hospital after a car jumped a red light. The woman received head injuries due to the incident on Sunday afternoon after the tram performed an emergency stop.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Shortly after 4.30pm police received a report that a tram performed an emergency stop after a car went through a red light. The car drove off. A woman passenger on the tram was taken to hospital with a head injury."

Delays were experienced on the Rochdale Metrolink line following the incident near Shaw and Crompton tram stop.
