A new, upgraded closed-circuit television (CCTV) system has been installed in Smallbridge in a bid to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour in the area.
Two cameras cover Stevenson Square and parts of Halifax Road, a much wider area than the previous system.
These cameras use a wireless link which has the capacity to access twenty cameras and works on a different frequency from those in the surrounding areas of Milnrow and Littleborough to avoid transmission issues.
The feed will be live monitored 24 hour per day, seven days a week to assist with crime prevention and offender prosecution. It can also be used as an evidence resource to deal with complaints from residents.
