Zain Zia flies high with Touchstones logo design win

Date published: 21 November 2016

Zain Zia collected his award from Mayor Ray Dutton, after his logo design was chosen for the Touchstones Gallery’s new café.

Students from Hopwood Hall College's Level Three Graphic Design course submitted their designs to the gallery, with a panel of industry professionals and council members choosing Zain’s air balloon-inspired design.

Zain’s design will now become the official logo for the award winning Arts & Heritage Centre’s new café in Rochdale.

Sharon Drysdale, Course Leader & Lecturer in Graphic Design, described her appreciation for all of her students’ work, “I am so proud of all of the students, there wasn’t a bad design put forward and I hear the judging was very close.

"The competition has been a great taster of the real industry they all hope to break into and it has given them some great material to enhance their employability and portfolios.”

On hand to present Zain with his award was Rochdale Mayor Ray Dutton, who was also a member of the panel who chose the winning design, he said: “It gives me great pleasure to be here with the future generation of this town and see the creativity the have blessed us with”

"I did actually vote for the eventual winner and I think it is a great advert for the potential our younger generations have within them. I’d like to give a massive congratulations to Zain on his success and all the other students for their wonderful designs.”
