Dawn to dusk fundraising challenge breaks 10-year record

Date published: 16 November 2016

Golfers Matt Murray and Rob Wood broke a ten-year-old club record at Castle Hawk Golf Course by completing 185 holes of golf in eight hours.

Their ‘dawn to dusk’ challenge raised over £400 and was the idea of club captain, Dave Simpson as part of his pledge to raise money for Springhill Hospice during his year in office.

Springy the Hospice mascot called in to Castle Hawk to spur the golfers on.

With the news that the record had been broken, Dave Simpson said: “The challenge is a very physical one involving walking around 18 miles and despite being young and fit our golfers were definitely feeling it at the finish.

“We are three-quarters of the way in to my year as captain and I hope to raise as much money as possible to support the great work that the hospice does.”
