Speaking in the lead up to Remembrance Day, Greater Manchester Mayor and Police and Crime Commissioner Tony Lloyd has paid moving tribute to servicemen and women past and present.
Mr Lloyd said: “Remembrance Day is a time for each of us to reflect on and share the personal stories and memories that bind us still to those who gave their lives for the liberty of others.
“We remember loved ones lost, respect our heroes still doing their duty, and honour those who have returned to us, having made huge sacrifices for our rights and freedoms.
“It’s so important to remember the sacrifices of all those who have served and continue to serve their country. Greater Manchester is a proud, multicultural city, and in this time of remembrance our diverse communities across Greater Manchester unite in our commemoration.”
