Date published: 07 November 2016

A fire pit that had petrol poured onto it accidentally set a building alight in Towncroft Avenue, Middleton in the early hours of Sunday morning (6 November).

Guttering and fascia of a glass and timber structure attached to the semi-detached property caught fire.

One person was treated at the scene by firefighters for cuts to the hand.

Two fire crews from Heywood and one from Blackley attended the scene for 50 minutes, using one hose reel to extinguish the flames.

Ladders and thermal imaging cameras were also used.
