Items of great sentimental value stolen in burglary at the home of 90-year-old woman

Date published: 07 November 2016

Items of great sentimental value were stolen when the house of a 90-year-old woman was burgled some time between 8am and 4pm on Wednesday 2 November.

The elderly woman was sleeping in the downstairs living area when her property, in the Oldham Road area of Kirkholt, was broken into.

Several valuable items were stolen, including 30 commemorative 50p coins, several hand-made items of jewellery and electrical items.

Detective Constable Sarah O’Connor, of GMP’s Rochdale borough, said: “This was a cruel crime where the offenders have targeted the home of a vulnerable person and stolen items of great sentimental value.

“I am appealing to anyone who believes they have witnessed any suspicious activity in the area, or has information in relation to the whereabouts of the stolen goods, to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 and quote the reference number 242 of 02/11/16, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
