High court referendum ruling "must not be allowed to derail Brexit", says MEP

Date published: 03 November 2016

North West MEP Paul Nuttall says the High Court ruling that the Government does not have power to trigger Article 50 without parliamentary approval and a vote from MPs "must not be allowed to derail Brexit".

Mr Nuttall said: “I’m disappointed with the court’s decision and MPs should not try to use this to defy the decision of the British people.

“The decision to leave the EU was made by the majority of voters in this country and as we live in a democracy means this must be enacted,” said Mr Nuttall, North West MEP.

“We always knew there would be hurdles before we can finally shake off the shackles of the EU and the role of UKIP is hold the government’s feet to the fire and make sure the will of the people is obeyed.”
