New computers as Balderstone Library

Date published: 02 November 2016

Ten extra public computers have been installed at Balderstone Library.

They are part of the Labour Party's election promise last May to double the number of computers in all the town's libraries.

Local Councillor Richard Farnell - who tried out one of the new computers with local librarian Justine Bull - said: "Balderstone is a very popular library and at busy times there was always a queue of people waiting to get on to a computer. Now, with ten extra ones, people can spend more time online and there is no more waiting."

Justine added: "There's a lot more going on in the Library than just books. People are having to complete more and more forms online nowadays so our computers are always busy.

"The extra terminals mean we can expand our computer training courses and job search sessions too."

An extra 14 new computers are also available at Rochdale Central Library which reopened earlier this month following the floods.
