Mother left without heating and hot water after reporting boiler to RBH for months

Date published: 28 October 2016

Furious mother Jackie Baldwin after being left without gas for a week after reporting her boiler to Rochdale Boroughwide Housing five times.

Jackie, from Rochdale, says she had been reporting the problem ‘for around five months as the boiler failed to produce hot water unless the heating was on’. The latest report came after the heating stopped working.

She said: “I can’t even use the cooker as that’s gas. All the gas has been knocked off except for the fire. That will be okay, but still won’t warm the house.

“They can’t change it until Tuesday, so that’s a full week I will have had to wait with no heating, no hot water and I’m really annoyed.”

A spokesperson for RBH said: “Following a report about a boiler problem, an RBH heating engineer called on Monday (24 October). Our engineer isolated the boiler due to the location of the flue outlet adjacent to a lean-to roof.

“Electrical fan heaters were provided to the tenant to provide heating while the boiler is not working. A new boiler has been ordered and will be fitted on Tuesday 1 November, a date mutually agreed between the tenant and RBH.

“The tenant has been assured that the problems with the boiler do not affect the cooker.”
