Mayor’s hillybilly hoedown rocks Whitworth

Date published: 24 October 2016

Mayor of Whitworth, Councillor Madeline De Souza, welcomed cowboys and girls from near and far to dust off their boots, chaps and cowboy hats for a rootin’ tootin’ charity shindig in aid of the Mayor of Whitworth’s charity fund on Saturday (22 October).

The evening was great fun and all who attended got into the spirit and contributed to the fantastic atmosphere, The Riverside bar staff couldn’t help but join in the line dancing fun with a brilliant performance of Steps 5-6-7-8 and even a quick draw contest culminating in a fantastic death performance from one of the cowboys. The hog roast went down well and there was more than enough to go around.

The Mayor of Whitworth said: “Thank you to everyone that came and supported me in this event. I am so pleased that I have had such great feedback and everyone had a fabulous time.

“I want to thank Sam Clarke from Samba Dance for kindly volunteering to teach us some line dancing steps and to the other local businesses and organisations who lent us decorations and sent raffle prizes. I am overwhelmed with the kindness of local people and businesses.”
