Plans approved for new specialist supported living scheme in Rochdale

Date published: 14 October 2016

Plans to build a new specialised supported living scheme for disabled young adults in Rochdale have been approved.

The scheme, on land off Meadow View in Rochdale, will provide specialist housing and support for vulnerable adults in need of structured, skilled and practical support for higher complex care needs and autism.

The plans were unanimously approved by members of the Rochdale Township planning sub-committee.

The development, by HB Villages, comprises a two-storey building containing four self-contained one-bedroom apartments and six en-suite bedrooms with a communal lounge, kitchen and dining areas, staff areas, open space and car parking.

Alastair Sheehan, development director of HB Villages, which has delivered twenty-six successful specialised supported housing schemes across the country with more than thirty in the future pipeline, said: “This development will provide much needed high quality bespoke accommodation for some of the most vulnerable young adults in our society. We’re looking forward to getting on site and delivering positive outcomes for our tenants and the community.”

HB Villages was assisted by development and infrastructure consultancy Peter Brett Associates LLP (PBA).

Michael Gilbert, senior associate in PBA’s Manchester office, said: “We are delighted to have secured planning permission for another important supported living scheme on behalf of HB Villages.

"The scheme in Rochdale will deliver much needed high quality specialist accommodation in a sustainable location, and is being delivered with the full support of the Council.”
