Walk from Blackpool to Rochdale for Josh McCormack

Date published: 12 October 2016

Thirty two people will be walking 45 miles from Blackpool to Rochdale on Saturday to raise funds for Josh McCormack, who is suffering from terminal brain cancer.

The team of 32 people, including Josh’s father, Kevin, will set off from Blackpool at 6am and are hoping to raise around £10,000 pounds. The journey, organised by Matt Murray, is expected to take around 16 hours.

One walker, Andrew Ross, said: “One day of pain is nothing to me with what they [the McCormacks] are going through on a daily basis.

“It’s important to show the McCormacks how much we’re all with them, united throughout all of this.”

Mother Nicola had previously asked people to stop raising funds when she received the devastating news that Josh was not eligible to fly to Florida for immunotherapy treatment.

After speaking with the McCormacks, the walkers have decided to go ahead with the fundraising walk to aid the family with their finances whilst they are caring for Josh.

Matt has arranged four food and water pit stops along the route, with a back-up team following the group with supplies.

Each walker is raising funds through paper sponsorship forms only.
