Rochdale Wedding Show brings glitz and glamour

Date published: 10 October 2016

Glitz and glamour returned to town this weekend when Rochdale Wedding Show was staged on Sunday.

Brides and grooms attended Rochdale Town Hall with their friends and families for the annual event, looking for inspiration for their big day.

The event featured two catwalk shows with Marks and Spencer, Brides of Rochdale and Denis Hope showcasing a range of bridal, occasion and menswear. Outside there was a collection of classic wedding cars.

Visitors also got the chance to see the Register Office, the ceremony room, take afternoon tea in the new Clock Tower Dining Room and admire the stunning venue. The Grade One Victorian Gothic building with its unique architecture is a popular wedding venue.

Local businesses provided a showcase from stunning dresses and flowers, to classic cars, photography, catering, cakes, entertainment, jewellery, decorations and more.

Local pop songstress Gem O’Reilly provided live entertainment.

Councillor Janet Emsley, cabinet member for culture, health and wellbeing at Rochdale Borough Council said: “The show looked absolutely beautiful.

"With over 500 people through the door it was also our record attendance and I was really pleased with the response to this year’s show and there was a fantastic atmosphere.

"Exhibitors reported a good level of orders taken on the day, running into tens of thousands of pounds, so it has been another really good day for local businesses.”
