Six-year-old Olivia Gooding raises £386 pounds for FOP research

Date published: 10 October 2016

Olivia Gooding has raised £386 pounds in funds towards research into Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP).

The six-year-old had 12 inches cut from her hair on Saturday (8 October) and immediately posted the locks to The Little Princess Trust, who make real-hair wigs for alopecia and cancer patients.

She had decided to selflessly donate funds for FOP research as close family friend, Rachel Winnard, suffers from the condition.

FOP is an extremely rare and disabling genetic condition that causes a second skeleton in the body. Muscles and connective tissues like tendons and ligaments gradually turn to bone and progressively restrict a person’s movement.

Olivia is still hoping to reach her £500 pounds target.
