Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 10 October 2016

On Wednesday 5 October 2016 children from our school council attended an activity day at Ashworth Valley Scout Camp with colleagues from other IPLCN schools. The children had a great time and their behaviour was excellent. A huge thank you to Miss Mullane, Mrs Kershaw, Mrs Flynn and Miss Wild for organising this event so well.

Also on Wednesday KS1 children were lucky enough to visit the M6 Theatre to preview a performance of their latest show ‘Mavis Sparkle’. We are very proud of the relationship we have with the M6 and very grateful for the opportunity to see these shows. The children really enjoyed the show and behaved fantastically well.

Congratulations to Ziyaad and Ayesha on being voted in as Head Boy and Head Girl for this year. They will represent the school in these roles and work closely with the School Council. Good luck to them both.

Our Year 6 children will be attending the Crucial Crew event on Wednesday 12 October in Bury.

We are holding a Harvest Assembly on Thursday 13 October at 9:10am in conjunction with Springside. A letter will be sent with further details of this, but we will be asking for donations for Rochdale Foodbank.

Well done to all the Hamer Stars of the Week for week ending 7 October 2016 they are:

Well done to Mrs Casey’s class for best attendance for week ending 30 September 2016. Parents please support us by ensuring your children are on time and in school every day.

The Citizens of the week for week ending Friday 7 October are from Year 4 Imaan, Aleena and Asam for representing Hamer School at the IPLCN Day at Ashworth Valley as always in an exemplary manner. The candidates for the Head Boy and Head Girl were also awarded Citizens for being gracious in defeat and humble in victory. Well Done everyone!

We recently sent out feedback forms in relation to the Curriculum Information Events we held in units. Please can parents return these to school ASAP with your comments, we really value parental feedback and it will help us with planning for future events.

We are experiencing an increasing number of parents taking their children to medical appointments during the school day. Please can parents do everything to arrange these appointments after school or in the holidays. If parents do need to take children out during the school day, then please inform the class teacher in the morning and give them a copy of the appointment card for our records.
