Rochdale Exchange searches for Christmas charity

Date published: 07 October 2016

People from across the town are being invited to nominate an organisation to help Rochdale Exchange select its Christmas charity.

From Monday 10 October, shoppers will have the chance to have their say on which organisation will receive the funds from the centre’s annual Santa’s Grotto. The centre will then shortlist three of the nominees, before asking the public to vote for the Christmas charity at the grotto in December.

Lorenzo O’Reilly, Rochdale Exchange Shopping Centre manager, said he was delighted to be able to have the people of Rochdale help choose a charity for the centre to donate too. “We really believe in being able to support charities and the wider community at Rochdale Exchange,” said Lorenzo.

“Last year was the first time we had donated our grotto funds to charity and with the help of the Rochdale community, we managed to raise more than £3400 for Moorland Children’s Home,” he said. “So this year, we thought it would be a great opportunity to open up the selection to our shoppers.

“Once, the centre management team have shortlisted three of the nominees, shoppers paying £4 to visit Santa will be given tokens between Friday 2 December and Friday 23 December to cast their vote and the organisation with the most tokens will receive the grotto proceeds.”

Nominations can be made by visiting www.rochdaleexchange.co.uk/whats-on/charity until 12pm on Monday, 24 October. Once all the submissions have been reviewed, the centre team will compile a shortlist before the token voting begins.
