Teaching assistant Hamid Bhatti jailed for having sex with underage schoolgirl

Date published: 06 October 2016

Teaching assistant, Hamid Bhatti, has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life and jailed for five years after having sex with an underage schoolgirl in 2014.

The 24-year-old from Rochdale will also serve two years in jail concurrently for abduction after the girl, who cannot be identified, went missing in early 2015 and was found at his home.

A jury at Taunton Crown Court convicted him of abduction and two counts of sexual activity with a child. He was acquitted of any further counts of sexual activity with a child.

Bhatti was 22 and working on placement at a school in Yeovil when the allegations took place.
