Driver treated for smoke inhalation after lorry fire on M62

A driver was treated for smoke inhalation by a fire service trauma technician after a lorry on fire on the M62 on Sunday.

A spokesperson for the fire servcie said: "At 5.39pm on Sunday (2 October) a crew from Rochdale and Heywood were called to a lorry on fire on the M62, eastbound carriageway, junction 21.

"Four firefighters in breathing apparatus tackled the blaze involving a tractor unit and generator on the vehicle using hose reels.

"The driver was treated for smoke inhalation by a fire service trauma technician, but declined hospital treatment."
