A person had to be cut free by the fire service after a collision involving two cars on the M62 on Monday night.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "At 9.24pm on Monday (3 October) two fire engines from Heywood and Rochdale, along with the major rescue unit and technical response unit from Leigh, attended a road traffic collision on the M62 eastbound between junctions 20-21.

"Firefighters used stabilising and cutting equipment to extricate one casualty, who was left in the care of the ambulance service."
