Reckless driver speeds through lights on red

A dangerously reckless driver was caught on film speeding through the traffic lights on red at the junction of St Mary’s Gate, Rochdale and College Road and Newgate on Sunday (2 October) at 5.09pm.

The car, which appears to be a Volkswagen Polo, is seen jumping the lights within sight of Rochdale Police Sation, whilst other drivers wait at the red traffic lights.

The registration plate is unreadable due to the speed of the vehicle.

Eyewitness Mark Hancock, who was driving home after his daughter’s netball practice, said: “I felt enraged. I immediately thought of the similar accident involving Joseph Brown-Lartey on Bury Road and Sandy Lane.

“This person has total disregard for anyone else on the road.”
