Mind receives £2,000 donation from Rochdale Rugby Union Football Club

Rochdale and District Mind was presented with a cheque for £2,178 pounds by Rochdale Rugby Union Football Club (RRUFC) at a pre-match lunch on Saturday (1 October).

The event took place in honour of Anthony Philbin who played for RRUFC. He has been described by his peers as: "A young outgoing character, always the centre of attention, never one to shy away from a challenge. Full of grit and determination to be the best he could. He will be dearly missed by all his friends and family. A real character that was sure to leave an everlasting first impression."

Over the last year, Rochdale and District Mind has developed a project with Sport England called ‘Get Set To Go’.

The aim of this project is to engage more local men and women to improve their mental well-being through sport.

Active people can support others as a volunteer peer navigator. Training is provided to make these service more welcoming to those with mental health issues.

A spokesperson said: "Mind and RRUFC would like to acknowledge Luke Powell, Ged Powell and Jack Sampson for organising the Charity Rugby match against Bowden, and the residents of Rochdale and Bowden, for the successful day."

Rochdale and District Mind is a registered Charity established in 1988 by those in the district who had experienced of mental distress. They aim to promote and protect good mental health for all and treat people with mental distress fairly, positively and with respect. They provide information and a range of services to anyone living in the area who needs their support.
