Smallbridge Youth Club fund raising

Date published: 30 September 2016

Young people from Smallbridge Youth Club were supported by the residents of Smallbridge and by the local councillors from the Pennines in their annual Macmillan fund raising event.

This year the young people decided to conduct their Macmillan event differently to their previous year’s events, with a small budget, kindly given by Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, the young people managed to plan and deliver this year’s event with a community cohesion theme.

The event was conducted in the evening in the hope of bringing the diverse community residing in and around Smallbridge together to share in the fund raising atmosphere and experience.

Rochdale Area Youth Worker Mohammed Zarafat said: “The young people had planned, budgeted, promoted and delivered a fantastic event to the community and it’s always good to see young people supported by the local councillors who have always encouraged and motivated our youth clubs.”

Lead Youth Worker Heather Mellalieu said: “There are two evening based youth club sessions at Smallbridge during the week.

“Tuesday evenings is an open access session with a degree of informal education and a Wednesday evening provision which is a project focused group who have delivered this event for the community tonight.”

Councillors Janet Emsley, Aftab Hussain, Rina Paolucci-Escobar and Amina Mir congratulated the young people on their delivery of the event for a worthy charitable cause.
