Man arrested for attempted murder after woman attacked with hammer

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was attacked with hammer on Oakcliffe Road, Rochdale.
Police were called at 8.45pm last night to reports of a woman being attacked.
The woman was taken to hospital with serious head injuries, not thought to be life threatening.
The man remains in custody for questioning.
