Statement on behalf of the Rochdale Council of Mosques: Re: Qari Jalal Uddin

Date published: 16 September 2016

“First and foremost this trial was about the brutal and senseless killing of a defenceless man, Qari Jalal Uddin.

"Our thoughts today and those of everybody associated with the Rochdale Council of Mosques lies with his family.

"They have shown great dignity and strength during the proceedings, and our prayers are with them.

"We also pray that others involved in Mr Uddin’s death can be brought to justice so that the family can have some form of closure.

"The Rochdale Council of Mosques remains resolute in our opposition to hatred and extremism, and committed to working with our partners to provide the support necessary to challenge those who seek to divide us.”
