As Rochdale prepares for a Gracie Fields celebration weekend, culminating in the official unveiling of a statue in honour of Gracie at 1pm outside the Town Hall on Sunday, Councillor Janet Emsley has explained how the idea has come to fruition in an interview on 'That's Manchester TV'.

Celebration weekend events

  • Friday 16 September – 1950s Dinner Dance​
    7.30pm - midnight at Rochdale Town Hall 
  • Saturday 17 September - Join the choir
    11.00am at Touchstones Rochdale
  • Saturday 17 September - Children's activities
    11am - 4pm at Touchstones Rochdale
  • Sunday 18 September - Statue unveiling and choir performances
    1pm - 2pm at Packer Street, Rochdale Town Hall Square

Councillor Emsley is the Cabinet member for Culture, Health and Wellbeing.
