Hamer Community Primary School

Date published: 12 September 2016

A big welcome back to all for the start of the new term; it was lovely to see so many smiling faces (as always) at the school gate this week.

Before the holidays we informed parents of the temporary changes to the leadership team.

Mr Moore is currently at Lowerplace Primary School in the position of interim Head. Mrs Clare John will be acting as Executive Head across Hamer & Springside whilst Mr Moore is away and will be present on the gate some mornings when you arrive. The day to day running of the school will be overseen by Mrs Terry as Director of Learning.

We have two new members of staff who have joined our team this year We are sure that you will join us in welcoming the following members of staff into our School Community.

Miss Khan – Year 5 Teacher
Miss Foylan - Lunchtime Organiser

We are also delighted to welcome back Miss Page following her maternity leave and congratulations to Miss Birchenough who got married during the holidays and is now Mrs Bearpark.

Places are available for children across the whole of school in our Breakfast Club. Following feedback from parents we have extended the hours for this and children can now be dropped off from 8:00am. The price remains the same as last year at only £1 per day, this is exceptional value in comparison to other providers in the area. Payment needs to be made in advance for the half term to secure your child’s place, please see the school office for further details.

We will be joining in the celebrations to mark Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday on Wednesday 14th September. Children can come to school dressed up and the theme is Fantastic Creations. Please see the letter from Mrs Hoyle on the reverse of this week’s newsletter which gives details of all the fun activities due to take place on Wednesday.

Reminders

  • Punctuality is essential. Children must be inside their classrooms at 8.50am.
  • Breakfast club children may arrive from 8.00am – no earlier
  • Children must be collected at 3.15pm – school cannot look after children later than this
  • Uniform. The children are looking very smart; to ensure high standards please keep in line with the expectations set out on the website and Parents Handbook. Please take particular note of the guidelines relating to shoes, jewellery and haircuts (No lines or patterns in hair at any time).
  • Parking- The disabled parking spaces are strictly for blue badge holders only and these must be clearly on display. These bays are not to be used to drop children off at school. Thank you.

Celebration assemblies for ‘Star of the Week’, ‘Citizens of the Week’, Attendance Awards and other successes will begin again next Friday 16 September at 9.10am. In addition, Thursday class assemblies will begin every other week from Thursday 22 September.

It was brilliant to see so many parents every week during the last academic year and we look forward the support again this year. All parents are welcome to any of these assemblies, even if your child is not directly involved. Come along and join our celebrations.
