Rochdale singer Ellysse Mason is set to launch her second EP ‘Sage’ at her first headline event on Saturday 1 October at Gullivers in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.

Ellysse said: “It was actually recorded on the spur of the moment. I went to record a session with The Samsara Collective, who suggested a five song live EP.

“We recorded it the same day with just two microphones. It’s very stripped back with just my voice and guitar.

“I wrote each song according to how I felt at the time, but if I had to boil it down to a single theme, Sage is centred around self-discovery and having found a new way of thinking, whereas my first EP was about anxieties.

“I’m extremely pleased with the outcome as we captured the rawness of a live performance.”

Ellysse’s first EP was recorded in her bedroom and released on 18 December 2015. Since then she has spent her time performing at open-mic events in Manchester.

Ellysse, 21, from Syke, won Rochdale’s Got Talent in 2010 when she was only 14 years old having written and performed her own original track, before performing at the Rochdale Feel Good Festival later that year.

Ellysse will be joined by supporting acts Lucy and Virginia, Runah, and Clare Stokes.
